What’s Happening on our Safari!
December 2, 2013 What’s Happening on our Safari! What are we learning? Math: We are adding and subtracting to find unknown numbers. Writing: We are learning about personal narratives. Spelling/Phonics: We are learning about long /e/ vowels and ee. Reading: We are identifying words that appeal to the five senses. Science: We’re learning about how objects move. Citizenship: Our trait this month is kindness. Weekly Activities Spelling: Students should be completing one spelling activity each night. Make sure they are sounding out the words as they write. Beat the Clock: We are on Q2 Week 6 this week. Students now have 4 minutes and 40 seconds instead of 5 minutes. Students can count on, draw pictures, or any other strategies! Homework: Please help your child stay on top of homework and remember to bring it on Friday. Extra Help: If you need ideas for ways to help your student at home, please don’t hesitate to ask. One great idea for every child is to correct work. When you get old work on Fridays, use it the next week to correct! Don’t forget to read every night! Rotate between reading to a parent, reading with help, and being read to! If you need books, just ask! A Word From Ms. Miller I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a restful break! We only have three full weeks until Christmas break! With the cold season upon us, it would be very much appreciated if anyone could send in another box of Kleenex. We are rolling through our supply! Ms. Miller “No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted.” Mon. – Computer Tues. – PE Wed. – Music Thurs. – Art Fri. – Library
