1) Research, analyze, and communicate that the universe began with a period of rapid expansion using evidence from the motion of galaxies and composition of stars.
2) Explain the role of gravity in the formation of our sun and planets. Extend this explanation to address gravity’s effect on the motion of celestial objects in our solar system and Earth’s ocean tides.

Utilize the text page 268 and 269 to individually complete the graphic organizer.
Consider the different characteristics of each galaxy as you fill in the graphic organizer.

5. GRAB an IMAGE GO to http://hubblesite.org/
You have 5 minutes to find and save an image of a galaxy.
Record on your graphic organizer the type of galaxy pictured as well as any other significant information. Be prepared to share with table team.

6. STOP and THINK Look back at Hubble’s Law.
Create an explanation of how his ideas of galaxy motion support the idea of universe expansion.

7. SUMMARY- on your summary paper
Create an analogy:
Compare Hubble’s Law to something in your every day experiences.
