The Life Changing Impact of a Near Drowning Incident... Jayden Beaven was only four when he nearly drowned at a friends house pool during a childs party which left him severely brain damaged. His nan Lesley said: We werent there and we dont know what happened. At some point it looks like he slipped away from everyone. Somebody saw a pair of shoes in the pool and, when they went to check it out, they realised it was Jayden. Because he was without oxygen for so long, he was left in a persistent vegetative state. Hes in a wheelchair now. He cant walk or talk and needs help with everything, 24 hour care. He cant be left alone. He communicates to us through noises so we know what he likes and doesnt like. It leaves you devastated. It has devastated us. We have felt so alone. You see parents who let their kids play near water without really thinking about. We wouldnt have thought about it either. You see kids going in the water with no adult. Kids dont think about it. Water is just there. People dont think. 1h2h Forward Back Exit
