2. The Transcontinental Railroad
This railroad was made, because people need quicker was of transportation. The government decided to pay the Union Pacific and the Central Pacific for each mile of track they put down. The railroad started in Sacramento(California ) and ended in Omaha. (Nebraska)

3. The Gold Rush
This started when gold was discovered in California. People came in about People who came at that time were called 49ers. When the easy gold to find was gone a miner named, George Jackson discovered gold in the Rocky Mountains and they had yet another gold rush.

4. Cowboys
Life on the ranch was a life for a cowboy. Being a cowboy was hard work. Some started at ages as low as 15. They herded cattle and sold them in places that couldn’t own cattle. This was the Cattle Drive. Once railroads were made they could use the railroad to transport cattle.
