Spring Test Press NST
2
Why Spring Testing is important?
Which springs and criteria can be tested? Main components of the Nencki spring test press Mechanical components Hard- and software Why transversal tests are so important? Metallastic spring testing Leaf spring testing Why the Nencki spring test press is the best solution for you?
3
Q Y The two forces which are influencing the derailing index
4
What is measured with the spring test press NST?
Q Y Axial stiffness Transversal stiffness

20
Transversal tests: Why?
Each helicoil spring does bow side-wards under load application
21
Transversal tests: Why?
In this example the springs are bowing under load all towards the same bogie side. Q Y Very bad influence regarding the derailing index
22
PC controlled All test parameters and test result are stored, report can be printed
23
Marking of the bowing
24
In this example the bowing of the springs has been measured.
Springs with similar characteristics are matched, so that lateral forces are neutralized
25
x In this example the lateral movement of the springs influences the axle distance. The bogie will have the tendency to drive to the left side. Bad running characteristics -> noise, vibrations, wear -> costs
26
Transversal spring helps:
To improve the running characteristics To reduce the derailing risk To reduce vibrations To reduce noise To control the quality of your spring supplier To reduce life cycle costs of wheels and rails Transversal spring test is a must for: High speed trains Metros
