建筑工程系 Department of Structural Engineering 文 远 讲 坛(第137期) Innovations in Recycling Concrete 报告人( Speaker): Prof. David A. Lange Professor, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign 时间 (Time) : 2017年2月27日(周一)上午10:00 地点(Venue): 土木大楼 A305室 主持人( Chair) : 肖建庄 教授 报告简介 (Outline) : Sustainability has emerged as a dominant theme across the profession because the production of Portland cement makes a large environmental impact. All three R’s — reduce, reuse, recycle — apply in some way to concrete infrastructure. Concrete researchers and practitioners have developed innovations in concrete recycling that represent strong potential for the future. This talk will address a variety of advances, particularly those that have arise through a partnership with the O’hare International Airport through support by two research activities — the Center of Excellence for Airport Technology (CEAT) and the University Transportation Center on Research on Concrete Applications for Sustainable Transportation (RE-CAST). Recycling concrete at airports is especially compelling because runways and taxiways are constructed with uniformly high quality materials. The use of recycled coarse aggregate is well established, and the current challenge includes improving the acceptance in high value-added applications such as runway pavements. New ideas about using recycled fines in foamed cements open new possibilities that address unique material applications. The processing of foamed microstructures demands new insight into materials design and understanding of fracture and mechanical response. The goal of recycling has opened an opportunity to advance fundamental understanding of cement based materials. 报告人简介 (About the Speaker) : David A. Lange is Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research area is concrete materials, microstructure-property relationships, characterization of pore structure, drying phenomenon and measurement of internal relative humidity gradients, shrinkage/creep, and cracking. He serves as Director of the Center of Excellence for Airport Technology, a research center sponsored by the O’Hare Modernization Program and the Federal Aviation Administration. 欢迎教师和学生参加!
