The Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976
Function: protect the public from "unreasonable risk of injury to health or the environment" by regulating the manufacture and sale of chemicals. Require reporting, record-keeping and testing requirements, and restrictions relating to chemical substances Environmental issues affected: production, importation, use, and disposal of specific chemicals: PCB products, chlorofluorocarbons, asbestos, lead, radon, any dangerous and potentially carcinogenic substances
