FFDCA The Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act is a National program passed by Congress in It was Amended by Congress in 1954 to protect consumers from pesticide residues on food by adding a new section to the FFDCA. Congress also added the Additives Amendment of 1958, which included FDA to set tolerances for food additives such as cancer-causing pesticides in foods.

The function of the FFDCA is to oversee the safety of food, drugs, and cosmetics and make sure they are not harmful to consumers. Environmental Issues: Food that has harmful pesticides in it cannot be sold. The Environmental Protection Agency has set up tolerance levels for the pesticides in foods.
