The Transcontinental Railroad
A railroad that goes around the continent. The workers who built the railroad were immigrants. The union pacific built railroads from west of Omaha Nebraska. The central pacific built the tracks from east of Sacramento California.

The Gold Rush In 1850 California had enough people to build a state because of the gold rush. Using metal pans miners scooped sand, hoping to find gold. People would take the gold to the town and would trade it or put it in the bank.

Cowboys Cowboy life was adventures but exhausting and dangerous.
Cowboys work 16 hours on hourse back and 7 days a week for the 2 or 3 mounths it took to drive the cattle north.
