Beach Reclamation Controlling Constructive and Destructive Processes What do you think reclamation means? Now that we know what reclamation means, what do you think beach reclamation is?

4 What is beach erosion? What causes it?

5 What is beach reclamation?
It is the act of reclaiming a beach from erosion. After a hurricane hits, many times people use beach reclamation to build back the shoreline. Sand is brought in and used to build the shoreline back. 

6 How is it done? Beach reclamation is often done through a process called dredging. There is another strategy called The Walking Sand Snare.

7 The Walking Sand Snare This method is less destructive than dredging.

8 Why is reclamation done?
To build back beaches for public use To protect beachfront properties.

9 What is the destructive process?
Erosion (many times resulting from a hurricane)

10 Can the destructive process be controlled?
Hurricanes cannot be controlled, but there is a way to diminish erosion.

11 What is the constructive process?
Beach reclamation People use technology to build back what was destroyed.
