Why march in Washington?
The march on Washington was in support of Civil Rights legislation sent by Kennedy to Congress guaranteeing equal access to all public accommodations and allow the A.G. to file school desegregation suits To emphasize the importance of the bill, labor leaders and leaders of the SCLC were brought in to organize the march

March on Washignton August 28th, 1963 Over 250,000 people march
Over 75,000 of the marchers were white Many people came to speak at the demonstration on the lawn of the Washington Monument MLK gave his “I Have a Dream” speech
