Lesson objectives: To know that Abraham is considered to be the founder (or) ‘Father’ of Judaism To understand the covenant made between Abraham and God To reflect upon how Abraham may have felt when faced with the decision to leave his homeland to follow God and be the founder of God’s chosen people

Abraham – the founder of Judaism
Abraham was the founder of Judaism He was in the Middle East between BCE The account of his life and his offspring form the basis of the Hebrew Scriptures (Tenakh)

Abraham and the Covenant
Covenant – an agreement made between two parties. Each side has to keep his side of the agreement God made a covenant with Abraham Read Genesis 12: Cut out the different parts of the agreement and stick them in the correct column – which parts of the agreement did God have to keep and which side of the agreement did Abraham have to keep? If you finish, answer the following question: which side of the agreement do you think is the most demanding? Give reasons for your answer.
