What is an Odd Fact? An odd fact is something that most people would not know. Since the fact is odd or unusual, it will make a reader curious. This makes using an odd fact an effective hook. Odd facts can be used in first or third person point of view writing. The Internet is a great source for locating unusual bits of information.

A Sample The green leaves of summer are a lie. Leaves natural colors are those of fall – reds, yellows, and oranges. The chlorophyll in leaves masks their true colors during the summer. Although the greens of summer show so much of what is living in nature, the true colors of leaves are what many admire. Most people in the eastern part of the United States admire the season of fall because of the colorful leaves, the change in temperature, and the bountiful harvest of this time of year. Another Sample To be the president of the United States, one must be educated; however, eight of our elected leaders never attended college. It might be expected that our earliest of leaders may not have been able to attain a college education, but in fact, two of them were later presidents – Cleveland and Lincoln. Shouldn’t our nation’s leader be educated? Would that not be one of the most important qualifications? To deal with international affairs, economic issues, and scientific and technological advances, the President of the United States must be highly educated.
