4 © Les Kelly Complete Training UK 2012 Climbing onto vehicles and trailers should be kept to a minimum. If it cannot be avoided the following guidance should be adhered to. When using the steps make sure that the handholds are also used which will make sure that the three points of contact are maintained A minimum distance of 1 metre should be kept from any exposed edge to avoid falling None slip safety shoes must be worn Do not pull a pallet truck to the edge of the vehicle or onto the tail-lift, push it so that you can see where the edge is and you do not fall Health & Safety Guidance

6 © Les Kelly Complete Training UK 2012 The highway code gives information under Penalties as follows: Offence: Failing to stop after an accident or failing to report an accident Penalty: 6 months imprisonment or a £5,000 fine Disqualification: Discretionary Penalty points: 5-10 Is it worth not reporting it? You are the last person to say yes or no as you will have final responsibility as the load is in your care and on your vehicle If VOSA or the Police stop you for any reason YOU will take the blame for any problems Load securing (Without Rope and Sheet)
