There are 23 different parts of the Register There are currently around 110,000 registrants across the different parts

Managers in Care at Home Services: 45% Registered with a qualification condition. Managers in Housing Support Services: 40% Registered with a qualification condition Supervisors in Care at Home Services: 60% Registered with a qualification condition Supervisors in Housing Support Services: 58% Registered with a qualification condition Support workers in Care at Home Services: 59% Registered with a qualification condition Support workers in Housing Support Services: 53% Registered with a qualification condition

6 Registration of Support Workers in Care at Home and Housing Support Services
11,828– unique individuals registered on these Register parts since October 2017 4,703– individual applications for Registration received by the SSSC and currently being processed. More than half of these have until 2020 to be registered 7,100 – applications started on MySSSC, but not yet submitted to the SSSC.

7 Qualification Conditions – Support Workers
All workers who do not hold a suitable, accepted qualification upon registration must gain an accepted qualification within their first five years of registration. The benchmark Qualification for Support Workers in Care at Home and Housing Support Services are: SVQ Social Services and Healthcare at SCQF Level 6 or HNC Social Services Of the support workers who have gained registration so far around 54% are registered with a condition to gain one of the above qualifications.

8 What are the barriers to registration for workers?
In groups take some time to consider what the barriers to registration could be for workers. Make a note of these on the flipchart provided. Discuss possible solutions to these barriers that organisations could use to support registrants. Have any of these barriers come up in your own organisation? What did the organisation do to support the worker(s)? Each table will then feed back to the rest of the room.

Discuss possible solutions to these barriers that organisations could use to support the workforce. Have any of these barriers come up in your own organisation? 10 Once registration has been obtained, what are the barriers to maintaining registration?
In groups take some time to consider what the barriers to maintaining registration could be for workers and for organisations. Make a note of these on the flipchart provided. Discuss possible solutions to these barriers. Have any of these barriers come up in your own organisation? What did the organisation do to support maintaining the registration of workers?
