2 Status of WiMedia Gen 1 Specifications
March 2006 Status of WiMedia Gen 1 Specifications PHY specification 1.1 is formally approved as a WiMedia Deliverable MAC specification Was approved by WiMedia BoD on Dec 20, MAC 1.0 is currently in its 45-day IP review period. ECMA-368 standard includes both WiMedia MAC and PHY specifications and was formally approved by the Ecma General Assembly on Dec 6, It is now publicly available for free download from the Ecma website. ECMA-369 standard is the MAC/PHY interface specification and is approved and available for public download. C. Razzell (Philips)

3 WiMedia PHY 1.2 (adaptation to WW regulations)
March 2006 WiMedia PHY 1.2 (adaptation to WW regulations) Weekly PHY Meetings are in progress and a face-to-face is anticipated in late March The ability to drop specific sub-carriers as determined by the local MAC will be supported The ability to respond to over-the-air signaling specifying that certain sub-carriers should be dropped will be supported. No errata fixes arising from interoperability testing had been identified; but they will be included if any are found. A revision of the band plan above 6GHz to make best use of emerging DAA-free spectrum will be undertaken. It is not anticipated that Detect and Avoid (D&A) can be included in the 1.2 PHY specification. We have to wait for CEPT and ETSI processes to complete. C. Razzell (Philips)

4 Recent face-to-face meeting
March 2006 Recent face-to-face meeting Held in Burlingame, CA, February 22-24, 2006 Approx. 90 delegates 4 technical tracks and one marketing track Active technical groups at this f-2-f included: Regulatory, PHY, WiNET (IP over UWB), Conformance and Interoperability, Digital Imaging and Printing, Streaming Media Profile, USER scenarios. Biggest concentration of current activity is Conformance & Interoperability (C&I). Next interoperability event will take place March 27th C. Razzell (Philips)
