Key functions of networks Networks facilitate the negotiation and setting of global standards. Networks serve as mechanisms for developing and disseminating knowledge. Networks make markets where they are lacking, and deepen them where they do not fulfill their potential. Networks serve as innovative implementation mechanisms. Networks create trust and help to close the participatory gap.

Management Principles of Networks. Getting the network up and running requires personal and institutional leadership. Balancing adequate consultation with delivery is key to success ”structured informality” Multisectoral Cooperation requires substantial organizational change. Meeting the dual challenge of inclusion (local-global & North/South) is imperative to ensure legitimacy and sustainability.
