Instead of listing the steepness (or slope) as a fraction, they list it as a percent and call it a slope grade.

For example… A snow slope of ¼ (rise 1 foot for every 4 feet in length) = 25% grade

6. Slope Grades – Why Are They Important?
Green=Easy= slope or 25% grade
Blue=Harder= slope or 40% grade

Pick two points on the line
Count the vertical (rise) units and make it the numerator
Count the horizontal (run) units and make it the denominator
