Instead of listing the steepness (or slope) as a fraction, they list it as a percent and call it a slope grade. 1/18/2019 copyright All Rights Reserved

For example… A snow slope of ¼ (rise 1 foot for every 4 feet in length) = 25% grade 1/18/2019 copyright All Rights Reserved

Slope Grades – Why Are They Important?
Green=Easy= slope or 25% grade Blue=Harder= slope or 40% grade 1/18/2019 copyright All Rights Reserved

And then there’s…….. Most difficult = more than 40% slope grade Extreme = Or Suicidal in Mrs. Yow’s terms! 1/18/2019 copyright All Rights Reserved

Finding the Slope of a Line
We can find the slope when given a linear equation. y=mx+b Slope 1/18/2019 copyright All Rights Reserved
10
Finding the y-int of a line
We can find the y-intercept of a line given an equation. y=mx+b Y-intercept 1/18/2019 copyright All Rights Reserved

Specifically: Look at the line and determine if the slope is positive or negative Pick two points on the line Count the vertical (rise) units and make it the numerator Count the horizontal (run) units and make it the denominator 1/18/2019 copyright All Rights Reserved
