What Did He Do?
Established the first mission in East Texas, Mission San Francisco de los Tejas.
The mission was abandoned when the local Hasinai Indians begin to turn hostile towards the Spanish; the Missionaries buried the mission bells and destroyed the mission as they left.

- After the East Texas Missions failed, he returned to San Antonio de Valero (The Alamo).

The settlement at Los Adaes, near Louisiana, became the Spanish Capital of the province of Texas.

What Did He Do?
Established the town of Laredo in 1755, it would become one the most successful permanent Spanish settlement in South Texas.
Established the first cattle ranches in Texas (haciendas).
