1. Guess Who
The game of Guess Who encourages children to ask questions that can be answered ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ in order to identify the character which has been chosen by their opponent.
As well as using it to support children to develop these questioning skills, it can be adapted to help them learn the names and characteristics of different plants and animals.
The game comes with interchangeable card inserts which have different people, animals or food on them. Put a plain piece of paper in place of the card insert and mark where each window opens.
This sheet of paper can then be photocopied and pictures of different plants or animals put in each space. This can then be laminated and used in place of the cards which come with the game.
Children can then be encouraged to ask more scientific questions such as ‘Is it a mammal?’, ‘Is it a carnivore?’ or ‘Does it live in a woodland habitat?’.
