Pick a mate who… Comes from a good background (Ezek. 16:44) Respects God and his word (Psa. 19:7-11); respects God’s assigned roles for the husband and wife (Eph. 5:22-33) Has spiritual goals and values (Mt. 6:33; Heb. 11:6)

Pick a mate who… Can adjust, compromise, and serve (1 Cor. 13:4-7; Eph. 5:33; Phil. 2:2-4) Is willing to correct major flaws (1 K. 16:31; 19:1-2; 21:1ff; 21:25) Shows signs of maturity (1 Cor. 13:11) Can and will communicate (Eccl. 9:9; 1 Pet. 3:7)

Pick a mate who… Will offer more than physical beauty (Prov. 31:30; 1 Pet. 3:1ff) Knows the difference between sex and love (Eph. 5:25ff; Tit. 2:4) Will be a good friend and life-long companion (Prov. 2:17; Mal. 2:14-16)

Pick a mate who… Will respect you (Eph. 5:33; 1 Pet. 3:7) and be committed to you for life (Mt. 19:6; Rom. 7:2-3; 1 Cor. 7:39)
