2 Introduction San Marcos Cemetery is a 45-acre plot located along Ranch Road 12, just West of the intersection of 12 and W Holland St. Some burials data back to 1846, making the cemetery a history site. The Cemetery is reaching capacity and the City of San Marcos wants a visual way of determining which graves are empty. The City has asked us to collect data on the Ramsay Addition of the cemetery as a starting point for mapping the whole cemetery. The data we collect and the methods of collection will be used by future groups to carry out this project over a number of years.

5 Purpose Collect GPS data on the location of the Addition, Sections, Blocks, and Gravesite boundaries Develop geodatabase of feature classes created from collected data, ensure geodatabase can be easily integrated into Pontem Cemetery Management Software. Devise and record method of data collection. Ensure data collected is consistent and as precise/ accurate as possible.

6 Data/Software Data Type Source 2015 Orthophoto – San Marcos Cemetery City of San Marcos Cemetery Boundary File GPS Data for Boundaries To be Collected GPS Data for Obstructions (Trees, etc) Ramsay Addition Boundary To be Created Section A1-A4 Boundaries Blocks Inside Each Section Boundaries Individual Gravesite Boundary Geodatabse of Ramsay Addition TerraSync and GPS Pathfinder will be used to collect and process the GPS data. ArcMap will be used to create the feature classes and geodatabse, as well as the final map.

7 Methodology Create data dictionary (areas, trees, obstructions , etc…)
Collect data in the field, only under specific conditions (time, collection method) Use collected data to create feature classes and geodatabse, ensure attribute data is in line with Pontem management software (nested attribute data) After the first day of data collection we will know how accurate the GPS data will be

8 TRAVEL TO CEMETERY & COLLECT DATA
START TRAVEL TO CEMETERY & COLLECT DATA CREATE VISUAL REPRESENTATION OF CEMETERY GPS DATA CREATE GEODATABASE FROM GPS DATA MAP OF CEMETERY FILE GEODATABASE

9 Timetable Data Collection Data Analysis Important Dates

10 Timetable Data Analysis Interpretation & Conclusion

11 Timetable Interpretation & Conclusion Important Dates Data Collection
3 weeks for field collection 1 GPS unit, for consistency Data collected will be post processed as soon as possible Data Analysis Precision and accuracy of data collected is highest priority Will decide if finer resolution data can be obtained Streamline collection process Interpretation & Conclusion Geodatabse will be created to be easily integrated into Pontem cemetery management software Methedology and steps will be put into the final report for future cemetery mapping

12 Budget

13 Deliverables All GPS data collected in .cor format.
Geodatabse of the Ramsay Addition containing feature classes for the Addition, Section, Block, and Grave boundaries. Map of the Ramsay Addition showing the boundaries created from the GPS data. Final report and detailed poster on this project.

14 Conclusion The Super G.P.S. Bros will:
Collect GPS data on the Ramsay Addition of the San Marcos Cemetery Create a geodatabse containing feature classes for the boundaries in the cemetery Provide a map of the Ramsay Addition of the cemetery
