2. AIM OF THIS TALK:
Inform you about the Oracle Express database with Urban Audit results

3. History
Results of Urban Audit pilot phase stored in 1200 Excel spreadsheets
Need for a proper database
Contractor assigned the task of producing an Oracle Express database
Started May 2001
Task (more or less) finalised in May 2002

4. Content Oracle Express database UA1 was checked (as far as possible..)
It contains 482 variables (in reality often quite reduced response rate!)
Three spatial units: administrative unit (=central city), WTU, sub-city
Various meta information, often as free-form text

5. From UA1 to UA2
UA1 will be kept as historic reference database of the 1999 pilot phase
UA2 for the results of Urban Audit II was created
Only variables that were kept or slightly modified (184 of 482) were copied from UA1 to UA2
Only for “central city” spatial unit

7. From UA1 to UA2 contin.
Meta information was also partly copied into UA2 (not the free-format text)
The new variables (137) were created
Ready for taking Urban Audit II results on board …..

8. Next steps Import fresh data from Member States
Get the pilot phase data checked
create indicators from the variables inside the database
Examples: GDP/head cars/household
