Break class into 4 groups – assign each group a statement

4. In your group, With your assigned theme statement:
Determine if there is anything you’d like to change or adapt in the statement to make it stronger.
Look at vocabulary, modifiers, structure and applicability to the play
Once you have a statement you are satisfied with:
Choose 1 or 2 characters that support the theme
Find 2 examples for each character that further supports the theme

Theme: “An individual’s happiness is dependent on he/she marrying well.”
Characters that support:
Mrs. Bennet
Stated about Mrs. Bennet: “The business of her life was to get her daughters married” (Austen 7).

Caroline Bingley
Caroline Bingley explains to Mr. Darcy how unhappy he will be should he marry Miss Elizabeth Bennet (Austen 52-53).
