2. The birth of Christmas
Initially, Christmas was a Christian feast celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, on December 25th.

3. christmas nowadays
Today, it's a popular feast, which gathers the family around a meal and an exchange of presents.

4. A traditionnal meal.
In France, the meal is often composed of : oysters, turkey, foie gras and for dessert we have a Christmas "log" ( it's a very appreciated pastry! ). In Lyon, we also eat "papillotes", they are chocolate candies! It's delicious!

5. Christmas symbol : a tree.
Every years for Christmas we decorate the tree. At its base that we discover the presents (or the evening or the next day, according to the different family traditions).

6. Legend of christmas.
Children think that the mysterious Father-Christmas brings them their presents when they sleep!

7. In exchange of their presents, children put down a plate with a clementine, chocolate and a glass of milk at the foot of the tree for Father- christmas.

8. The christmas crib.
For religious reasons some families put a little christmas manger under the tree: with Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
Other families install it because they find it pretty!
