Project Rhea Roxana Anichitei National College Iasi, Romania R²

Discovered by Giovanni Cassini Discovered on 23rd December of 1672 R²
National College Iasi, Romania

Physical characteristics Weight 2,32×1021 kg Density 1,24 g/cm³
Allbedo 0,64 Atmosphere inexistent Rotational time 22 h 37 min 5 s National College Iasi, Romania

There are a lot of interesting things about this satellite like the ring, the colors, the surreal snowman or the craters on its surface. National College Iasi, Romania National College Iasi, Romania

The planet is the second satellite as size and the fourteenth largest distance to Saturn. The nucleus is composed of iron and rock and the mantle is composed of metallic hydrogen. National College Iasi, Romania

It’s surface Is full of craters and it has linear traces, shiny or diffuse. Birth to these was given by material ejected during the formation of the two geological areas. National College Iasi, Romania

One side is dark and has a small number of craters, while the other one is very bright and it has very deep craters. National College Iasi, Romania National College Iasi, Romania

This moon is made of ice so the satellite has high allbedo, causing high brightness. What is making this satellite more interesting is the origin of different colors which is not explained. National College Iasi, Romania

Rhea creates an optical illusion: it looks like a surreal snowman, which is floating down the space because of similar reflection of two moons. National College Iasi, Romania

Because of a very big crater at Dione’s south pole, it looks like it is connecting to Rhea even if these two moons are at km far from each other. National College Iasi, Romania

Cassini sondes focused on Rhea
About Rhea’s ring : NASA sent images the statement in 2005 says that Rhea is the only moon in the whole Universe which has this kind of ring. Cassini sondes focused on Rhea National College Iasi, Romania

For a better understanding of Rhea’s actions you can watch this video:
