2
Matter Matter is anything that takes up space and has mass.
Matter cannot be created or destroyed
4
Nutrient Nutrients are chemical substances that an organism must obtain from its environment to sustain life and undergo life processes. Carbon Nitrogen Phosphorus
5
The Water Cycle Most living organisms rely on water Precipitation
Transpiration Percolation Evaporation Runoff Groundwater
7
The Carbon Cycle All living things are made of carbon. Photosynthesis
Cellular respiration Fossil fuels- burning releases CO2 into the atmosphere Calcium carbonate Coral Clams Oysters
9
The Nitrogen Cycle Nitrogen is an element found in proteins.
Nitrogen fixation- the process of capturing and converting nitrogen into a usable form. Denitrification- the process of soil bacteria converting fixed nitrogen compounds back into a gas.
