1 This photo essay is inspired by my favorite cousins traditional wedding. On the 18 th August Pamela Tapi got married to Luvuyo Khoza and tradionally to the husbands culture( sesotho) the ceremony on the 18 th was formally introducing her to the ancestors. I will take you through the Sesotho way of becoming umakothi

2 A day in the life of becoming Umakoti (newly wed)

3 In the front raw on the far left is Pamelas older sister who's accompanying her, in the middle its Pamela and on the right is her grand mother. Here Pamela is wearing traditional umakhotis clothes. The family is taking her next door where her in-laws are waiting fir here.

4 Pamela and her family have now arrived next door and she is going to change to her tradional wedding gown.

5 This is Pamela and her husband, Luvuyo they are making their way to the tent where the wedding will ressume. The are running late the priest is already waiting.

6 Finally Pamela and Simphiwe arrived at the tent. Here they are in front of the priest exchanging their vows.

7 Pamela and Luvuyo exchanged wedding bands and here the priest is praying for them

8 Now pronounced husband and wife, they are officially Mr and Mrs Khoza

9 I choose this story because its event is something close to my heart Pamela and are the best of cousins even though she is a few years older than me but we get along very well. This was an beautiful bitter sweet day for me. I am happy for her of course but I'm going to miss hanging out with her because I know from now ion this wont be the same again. Thought I should share my beautiful weekend with the rest of you guys.
