2. Our mission is for all students to learn, grow, and experience success.
Our vision is that all English Landing students will meet grade level expectations and demonstrate responsible citizenship.

3. Miss Wood’s Classroom MISSION STATEMENT
We will work together to develop a quality classroom environment. This includes developing a class mission statement, setting class and individual goals, classroom expectations, and establishing procedures for the class. I will share these with you via as we create them.

4. Classroom Ground Rules
Treat others the way you want to be treated.

5. Personal Development (ClassDojo.com)
ClassDojo is a visual classroom management system to help students make good choices throughout the day. On the first day of the month everyone will begin with zero points. Throughout the day each child will have the opportunity to be awarded for good behavior or have a point deducted for not making good choices. Students may cash-in their points for
a variety of rewards every
Friday. Students and parents
may access dojo at home
through the access code
provided the first week of
school.

Students are recognized when they demonstrate
“soaring behaviors” on the bus, at arrival and dismissal,
in the restroom, at lunch, at recess, in the hallways,
and in the classroom!

7. AVID Elementary
English Landing, Prairie Point, and Renner, are piloting AVID Elementary during the school year. 
Focuses on teaching and reinforcing academic behaviors and higher-level thinking.
Provides educators a structure for teaching students academic habits they need to be more successful in middle school, high school, and college or career, in an age-appropriate and challenging way.

8. AVID Elementary
The strong college-bound culture will be visible to encourage elementary students to begin thinking about their future while embedding AVID skills of Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading into grade level curriculum.  
Throughout this first school year of AVID Elementary, families will see K-5 classrooms adopt age-appropriate Organization systems to develop greater independence for ALL students including the use of daily visual schedules, student academic binders, and grade level planners.

10. SETTING GOALS
Research shows students who set challenging goals show more growth in achievement than those who do not. Not only are students setting goals, they are keeping track of their own performance in reference to each learning goal. I will meet with students frequently to help them reach their goals.

NWEA – NWEA assessments are district-wide online assessments to monitor student progress. We will be administering these tests 3 times a year in Math, ELA, and once for Science. Please see the parent guide for more information:
MAP - The Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) is a statewide assessment that has been developed to assess the degree to which students are proficient in the knowledge, skills, and competencies represented in the Missouri Learning Standards.

12. 2018-2019 Park Hill (Elementary) Report Card Reporting Learning Progress Change
Reading Reporting Change: A student in grades: second, third, fourth, and fifth must be reading (independently) on grade-level to receive an “M” or “E” on reading standards.

14. Power Block Groups
Students will be working with teachers and staff on individual skills.
Students are grouped by abilities to meet their individual needs through enrichment and remediation.

15. Writer’s Workshop Writer’s Workshop is a place for kids to be writers.
Writer’s Workshop is a place where students will have time to work on writing as adult writers do:
Finding topics which interest them
Sharing their works-in-progress with each other
Giving and receiving peer feedback
Learning skills and techniques of writing in the context of their own stories, poems, and pieces
Sharing the insights they've gained in their own writing.

This year parents will sign up for Parent/Teacher Conferences through an online service called Sign-Up Genius. I will send directions and the link for this site in September. If you do not have computer access, please call me to schedule a conference time for you.

20. Volunteer Procedures Volunteering in Park Hill
The Park Hill School District’s volunteers make valuable contributions to our schools. In order to keep students safe, we screen all volunteers who might ever serve with students unsupervised by district staff.
