Why do we cite a book or an article? Is it possible to cite something other than a written material? What other sources do you cite when you write a research paper?

MLA – Modern Language Association – main citation format for the humanities APA – American Psychological Association – used to cite sources in the social sciences Chicago Manual of Style Method

5 Learning to cite The purpose of this activity is for you to appreciate citation It is also meant to help you better grasp the concept of citation Help you understand that it is necessary to cite where you get your information from

6 Go out and find: With your partner(s), leave the classroom
Bring with you any two objects of your choice from the street, your dorm, anything you find outside the classroom space (5 mins.) Keep in mind that the object should be something that interest you and something you can bring with you to class.

Answer the following questions: Who or to what does the object belong to? What is the title/ name of the object? Where did you find the object? Who made the object? Which year was it made? Describe the object and your reasons for choosing that object.

Answer the following questions: E.g. If you brought a flower to class, your description will look like this: Nature. Rose. Quad. God. Unknown. Red with velvety petals and a pleasant smell. Who does the object belong to? What is the title of the object? where did you find the object? Who made it? which year was it created? Describe the object and your reasons for choosing the object
