Explored by Lewis & Clark and influenced by the fur trade  conflicts led to Treaty of 1818 between Britain and U.S.A. Became a state in February 14, 1859.

Rep. of Texas asked to be annexed by the U.S. in Annexed on Dec. 29, but led to Mexican-American War. Est. in 1850.
Pres. Polk declared war on Mexico in and Santa Fe was conquered. Finalized with Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in Became a state on Jan. 6, 1912.
Gold discovered on January 24, Mexican-American war ends on February 24, Became a state on September 9, 1850 as a non-slavery state.
Mormon pioneers petitioned congress for entry in Controversial due to how the Union regarded Mormons which delayed entry. Admitted in 1876.
