11. HISTORY During a period of weeks in January 2004, Maj. Bill Layer of the 352nd Civil Affairs recovered photos and artifacts from the rubble of the al-Zuhur Palace in Baghdad. Of the items recovered were pictures dating back to the Ottoman period of Iraq, before WWI through King Faisal II reign in the early 40s. This is a royal wedding photo taken during the early 1930s. After cataloging and restoration, the items will be returned to the Iraqi Museum
