THREE TOKENS OF LOVE JOHN 12:1-11

Introduction This is a week of rejection, of friendship, betrayal, of love and hate. Jesus will be offered as a sacrificial lamb. He will bear the sins of the world.

Six days before Jesus offers His life on the cross, three people give Him three tokens of love. What were they? Can we also offer the same tokens?

1. THE TOKEN OF SERVICE - MARTHA Lesson 1: Use your talents and serve while there is a chance to serve. No service will be in vain if we did it for Christ. v.2 – A dinner was prepared in Jesus honor. Martha served.

Martha was once corrected for being busy for the kingdom. She had no time for the king. But this correction did not discourage her. She realigns her priorities and continues her service for the Lord.

Service must be done for the glory of God. Service must be offered with a smile and without complaining. Service must be an expression of our love for God and others. This token of service is love put in action.

2. THE TOKEN OF WORSHIP - MARY Lesson 2: Worship is an act of offering to please God and only God. Whatever may be said, God must be glorified. v. 3- Mary takes the alabaster jar of nard and anoints the feet of Jesus.

The house is filled with fragrance. Worship must be offered with value. Worship must be offered with sacrifice. Worship must be offered with love. The token of affection is worship expressed from the heart. It is evident on the quality of sacrifice.

3. THE TOKEN OF TESTIMONY - LAZARUS Lesson 3: There is always a risk when you witness for Christ. Do not fear death as Jesus is the author of life.

v.9- Lazarus was raised from the dead. v. 10 – Plot to kill him. V.11- Many believed. Testimony for Christ can be risky. Testimony for Christ is to give God the glory. Testimony for Christ proves our love for God.

The token of testimony glorifies God as it causes others to come to Jesus. This happens as they see the miracle of transformation in our life.

Conclusion We can also offer our tokens of love to Jesus. Love Him by our service Love Him by our worship Love Him through our testimony.
