2 Significances of Events Of the Civil War
Fort Sumter & Bull Run – 1st Battles of the CW Battle of Antietam – bloodiest SINGLE DAY Gettysburg – Turning Point of Civil War Vicksburg – Battle that gave the North control of the Mississippi River Appomattox Courthouse – General Lee surrendered to General Grant

4 How did Geography affect the Civil War?
The North had more railroads. This allowed them to move supplies and soldiers better than the south.

5 How did Geography affect the Civil War?
The South had better ports and could block the North from using them.

6 How did Geography affect the Civil War?
Having control of the Mississippi River was important. The river connected the North and South. The Mississippi River allowed for transportation of goods and people. When the North gained control of the Mississippi River in the Battle of Vicksburg, the south was spilt up. This made it harder for the south to stay united.

7 Emancipation Proclamation
Emancipate – TO FREE Signed – January, 1863 Freed the slaves in the rebelling territories. Changed the focus of the war from preserving the Union to freeing the slaves.
