3. The USA The USA is a federation of 50 states. The Alaska is the largest state and Rhode Island and District of Columbia are the smallest. The country is occupies almost 9400000km

4. The National flag has two parts: the blue one with 50 white stars symbolizing 50 states the larger one with 6 white and 7 red stripes symbolizing the original 13 colonies. The national anthem is called The Star-Spangled Banner.

5. People The number of inhabitants is around 300 milion, but only less than 1% of the people are actually true natives. There are many nationalities mixed together. Official language in the USA is English. Freedom of religion is extremely important.

6. Sport The Americans love playing American football, baseball,basketball and ice hockey. Sport is very important in Universities.

7. The USA has one of the strongest economies in the world. It is a leading country in agriculture, in the chemical, machinery industries and cars and in the minerals. The American dollar is used for trade in countries in over the world.

8. History This country was founded on July 4th 1776 by signification of the Declaration of Independence. George Washington became the first American president in 1788. Today the American president is Barack Obama.

9. The capital The capital city is Washington D. C. It is named after the first president. The letters D.C. mean District of Columbia and it is not a part of any of the 50 states. This city lies on the Potomac River. There is: the Capitol the seat of the Congress the White House the seat of the president Pentagon the centre of military forces

11. Interesting places In the USA there are many places for visiting in the cities and also in the nature f.e.: Death Valley Desert Yellowstone Grand Canyon and many others.

12. Geography The highest peak is Mont McKinley (6194 m) The longest river is Mississippi. On the Niagara River we can see the famous Niagara water falls. The Great Lakes are situated on the border with Canada.
