1 Bellwork (Warm-up) Drawings of Loyalty for 10/17/16
Read the paragraph about vassals of Europe after the fall of Western Rome. "To swear his loyalty or fealty, the vassal knelt and placed his hands between the hands of his lord. He then received a written charter, a staff, or a clump of earth to signify his ownership of the fief. Once fealty was sworn, it was considered a felony, or serious crime, to break the oath." Use the paragraph now to create three visuals about a vassal giving his loyalty to a lord of the manor. The paragraph indicates three parts to the vassal giving his loyalty. Draw them.
