Meet some success stories of PMI RT graduates who relocated in order to get their foot in the door. Our first RT grad on the move is Sean.

8 Sean Brainard, CRT UMC Lubbock in Lubbock, TX
Graduated July 2010 I love it here! UMC Lubbock is a burn center and houses a prison ward for the Texas Department of Corrections. RT on the move! Sean is working on the flight team, on the trauma, and in the Adult and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Sean loves the Texas lifestyle and has learned a lot working at a teaching institution. Meet Sean Brainard. Sean graduated from PMI in July of He relocated to Lubbock, Texas and has been busy in his new career! He is presently on the flight team, the trauma team, and also he works in the Adult and Neonatal ICU. UMC Lubbock is a burn center and also houses a prison ward for the Texas Department of Corrections. Sean loves the Texas life-style and has learned a lot working at a teaching institution.

10 Gracie Fernandez, RRT Seton Medical Center in Austin, TX
Graduated February 2011 Gracie works at Austin’s largest medical/surgical acute care center. It is the only hospital in central Texas that performs heart transplants. RT on the move! Seton Medical Center Austin offers comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services for inpatients, outpatients, and regional specialty programs including the Seton Heart Specialty Care and Transplant Center. Meet Gracie Fernandez. Gracie currently relocated to Austin, Texas where she works at Austin's largest medical/surgical acute care center, Seton Medical Center Austin. It is the only hospital in Central Texas that performs heart transplants. Seton Medical Center Austin offers comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services for inpatients, outpatients, and regional specialty programs including the Seton Heart Specialty Care and Transplant Center. Gracie says, “ After 3 months busting it PRN, your girl landed herself a full time gig.” After 3 months busting it PRN, I landed a full-time gig!

12 Allan Green, RRT Providence Medical Ctr. in Anchorage, AK
…I’ll have the chance to travel and help manage a makeshift PICU out in the villages! Allan Green, RRT Providence Medical Ctr. in Anchorage, AK Graduated January 2010 Providence Medical Center provides full surgical services including open heart, orthopedic, and bariatric. RT on the move! Providence Medical Center’s eICU provides award-winning telemedicine services via computers and high-definition cameras allowing Intensivists to oversee patient care around the sate and in Oregon. Meet Allan Green. Allan recently relocated to Anchorage, Alaska where he works at Providence Alaska Medical Center. This facility provides full surgical services including open heart, orthopedic, and bariatric. Providence Medical Center’s eICU provides award-winning telemedicine services via computers and high-definition cameras allowing Intensivists to oversee patient care around the state and in Oregon. Allan recently reported about the RSV outbreak in western Alaska. He said, “If it gets worse--as they are anticipating it to--I’ll have the chance to travel and help manage a makeshift PICU out in the villages! Crazy stuff!” As is evident Allan is excited with his new career.

14 Vivian R. Cruz, RRT Mary Washington Hosp. in Fredericksburg, VA
Graduated January 2010 As an East Coast native, Vivian had no hesitation to pack her bags and move. She started her new career at the Southern Maryland Medical Center then moved to Mary Washington Hospital. RT on the move! I enjoy the east coast lifestyle and I often travel to New York City! Mary Washington Hospital offers specialty services found in major cities: trauma care, open heart surgery, neurosurgery, and advanced cancer care. It is accredited in a wide range of services and meets the highest national standards in healthcare. Meet Vivian Cruz. An East Coast native, Vivian had no hesitation to pack her bags and move east after graduating. Following in her father’s footsteps, Stephanie graduated from the RT program and moved out to “Cowboy Country.” She completed her Bachelor of Science degree and was in PMI’s first graduating class! RT on the move! Meet Stephanie Scarborough! Following in her father’s footsteps, Stephanie graduated from our RT program and moved out to “Cowboy Country” in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She recently completed her BSRT from PMI and was in the very first graduating class! In addition to finding a new career in Wyoming and completing her Bachelor’s degree, Stephanie also met “Mr. Right” and was married in October 2011! Congratulations, Stephanie! Along with finding a new career in Wyoming and completing her Bachelor’s degree, she also met “Mr. Right” and was married last October! Congratulations Stephanie! 18 I guess new grads are very rarely hired so I’m really flattered!
Leah worked as a Physical Therapy aid and a personal trainer before enrolling in the RT program at PMI. She excelled throughout school and graduated as Valedictorian! RT on the move! Meet Leah Tress Moyer! Prior to enrolling in the RT program at PMI, Leah worked as a Physical Therapy Aid and a personal trainer. Leah excelled throughout school and graduated class Valedictorian. Leah recently relocated to Atlanta, Georgia where she works at Shepard’s Medical Center. This facility is one of the top ten hospitals in the United States for spinal cord injury rehabilitation. Leah writes: “I guess new grads are very rarely hired at this place, so I'm really flattered. You guys should see this place and the amazing equipment and facilities. They have the best of everything. It's really something to see. I never thought I'd see something this good! If you ever have a spine or brain injury, this is where you come.” Shepard’s Center is one of the top ten hospitals in the U.S. for spinal cord injury rehabilitation. 20 Jazmine Lee, RRT Harrison Hospital in Bremerton, WA
Harrison Bremerton is an acute-care center with award-winning cardiovascular services, including open-heart surgery, oncology, inpatient and outpatient surgery, orthopedics, critical care, and 24/7 emergency care in a Level III Trauma Center. RT working here! Meet Jazmine Lee! Jazmine relocated to Bremerton, Washington where she currently works at Harrison Bremerton Medical Center. Harrison Bremerton is an acute-care center and home to award-winning cardiovascular services, including open-heart surgery. Services also include oncology, inpatient and outpatient surgery, orthopedics, critical care, and 24/7 emergency care in the Level III Trauma Center. Jazmine says, “My job is going great! I am learning so much! I am currently a per-diem employee, however, I usually work between hours per week. Right now, I am working floors but hopefully soon I’ll be trained in the ICU.“ Jazmine is learning a lot on the job. She is a per diem employee and usually works between hours per week. 22 Katrina Diwa, CRT Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, CA
The Oakland medical center is the flagship hospital for Kaiser Permanente. This facility is a leader in offering community education and highly specialized care. RT working here! Katrina moved to San Francisco and found work in Oakland where she gained experience. She then moved back to San Diego where she was immediately hired by a local facility. She is currently doing clinical research in asthma studies related to respiratory drugs. Meet Katrina Diwa! After graduating in January of 2010, Katrina originally looked for a job in San Diego for nearly a year without results. Katrina relocated to San Francisco and was quickly hired by Kaiser Permanente in Oakland. As the flagship hospital for Kaiser Permanente, the Oakland medical center, is a leader in offering community education and highly specialized care. Katrina gained lots of great experience in Oakland and recently moved back to San Diego where she was immediately hired by a local facility. 24 Hannah Gauthier, CRT Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND Graduated July 2011 The cost of living is much better here… Trinity Hospital has 251 licensed beds. They provide a helicopter ambulance, acute care, and full hospital services. Their units include: NICU, Level II Trauma Center, Joint Replacement Center, and Cardiac and Neurosurgery Centers. RT on the move! When Hannah’s boyfriend decided to get a job in the oil fields of North Dakota, she discovered the abundance of health care jobs there. She says she signed a 3-year contract that guaranteed her 40 hours a week of work. Meet Hannah Gauthier! Hannah searched for a job in San Diego for over 6 months with no luck. Since she and her boyfriend were expecting their first-born child, he decided to get a job in the oil fields of North Dakota, where there is an abundance of jobs, including jobs in health care. In fact, there is a shortage. While Hannah did have to sign a 3 year contract, she is guaranteed 40 hours a week for that time period. Hannah says that the starting pay isn't as good as San Diego for a new grad, but the cost of living is so much better here. And you get the experience you need so you can go anywhere!
