6 1. Our Predicament: Alienation
Our human condition Gentiles were alienated from God’s people: v.12 “excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise” l. It was religious alienation ll. It was cultural alienation lll. It was racial alienation

7 Our spiritual condition
v.12 “separate from Christ … without hope and without God in the world”  “Far away” (v.13) – separated from God and lost We were without hope We were without God (‘alienated from God’)

8 2. God’s Provision: Reconciliation
“But now in Christ Jesus you have been brought near by the blood of Christ”

9 l. Reconciliation – with God
v. 13 ‘… far away … brought near by the blood of Christ’ v.16 “to reconcile both of them to God through the cross…” v. 18 ‘through Him we both have access...’

‘to reconcile both of them to God through the cross… bringing hostility to an end’ v. 16 “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus” Gal. 3:26-28

3. The Purpose: Identification (belonging) Our new identity cannot be separated from our new community! “There is neither Jew nor Greek … for you are all one in Christ Jesus” Gal. 3:26-28

17 A new citizenship v.19 “you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people” A new family v.19 “and also members of His household” A new community (temple) v.21 “In Him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord”
