9
Can You Name the Continents and Oceans?
10
Hemispheres-In which hemisphere does each belong. South America
Hemispheres-In which hemisphere does each belong? South America Antarctica North America Asia Europe Australia Africa
11
Absolute Location Latitude and longitude-
Latitude-0 degree-equator; measures north and south Longitude-0 degrees-prime meridian; measures east and west A specific place on the Earth’s surface Uses a grid system A global address
12
Example of Absolute Location
New Jersey 40°4.2'N Latitude 74°33.5'W longitude Morristown, NJ 40°47.52'N Latitude 74° 28.43' W Longitude
13
Where in the World…. Latitude and Longitude
Where in the World….Latitude and Longitude? Where is the cursor located? rg/webquest-five-themes-of- geography/
14
Where in the World…? 20 degrees N, 100 degrees E 35 degrees S, 22 degrees W 0 degrees, 80 degrees W 50 degrees N, 0 degrees
15
Place
16
Theme 2: Place Place – The physical and human characteristics of a place Physical Mountains, plains, & plateaus Land Features Climate Bodies of Water
17
Physical Characteristics
18
Theme 2: Place Human Characteristics

19
Human Characteristics
20
Human Environment Interactions
21
Theme 3: Human Environment Interaction
How People Interact With Their Environment and how the environment is affected by people People . . . Adapt to Their Environment (clothing, housing…) Modify Their Environment (reservoirs, bridges, tunnels, irrigation) Depend on Their Environment (water, food….)
