$173 Billion Dollars in direct cost 58,000 young men died 300,000 were injured 1 million North Vietnamese and South Vietnamese soldiers died Millions of Vietnamese civilians died Trouble Re-adjusting: Returning soldiers had a tough time readjusting to normal life in America The Veterans sacrifice often went unrecognized because the war was looked upon as a loss Few welcome home parades or celebrations The war remained unresolved for many American families

Left a mark on Politics Congress passed the War Powers Act, limiting the Presidents power to enact military conflicts Anything over days the President must seek Congress’ approval Overall, the war shook the nations confidence and made some question America’s Foreign Policy Also, increased citizens distrust of the government
