2 Aims and Objectives of this mornings session
Learning Outcome 1: Understand the characteristics and context for a chosen media and communication activity To ANALYSE articulate/discuss and explain the main characteristics of the chosen mediums you have identified: e.g. what makes something a poem; what makes something a documentary; what makes something a short story; what makes something a news feature/article etc… To share ideas and scrutinise To listen and scrutinise/question others and share ideas, thoughts and feelings. ALL To feedback to at least one person your ideas for unit 9 Some will feedback to a small groups/some to whole group Students to focus on describing the characteristics of the medium and reaching the chosen audience. Why are we doing this? By reading or discussing and answering questions you are sharing ideas, clarifying your own ideas and helping others to clarify their ideas. 8 What you will be doing: In small mixed groups Match students using same or similar mediums or forms Feel free to record for your unit 9 portfolio Referring to the questions provided last week when pitching and also when listening and questioning: Discuss your theme and the research especially any sources that have helped: books, websites, films, documentaries, radio dramas, poets etc… Identify the characteristics and share with group. Do you all agree; has anyone mentioned something you had forgotten. How has this helped your ideas for writing and chosen media e.g. radio and poem Discuss and justify your choices ALL must write a least one question per person in the group Others in the group must report back at least one other of the groups pitch. This can also be included in unit 9 portfolio Focus on characteristics of the medium, and other media campaigns and reaching the audience

9 Write answers to the following in your blogs Did anyone identify specific characteristics that will impact on their writing etc? Similarly was anything said that will impact on your work? Did anyone identify or share information that was useful to you e.g. a source of research? Did your question get an answer? Was it satisfactory: how and why? Did they help you? can anything be improved upon: for You and/or your group members? were there any ideas that you though were original, unique and imaginative? Did you get constructive feedback?
