3 Castigate (kas’ ti gĀt)
To criticize or punish severely (v.) Joseph’s biology teacher castigated him severely for chewing gum during the lab portion of class.

4 Gauche (gŌsh) Lacking social graces; tactless (adj.) While it is a common occurrence in classes which meet just after lunch, belching aloud is truly a gauche habit.

5 Ignominy (ig’ nĕ min Ē) Public shame, disgrace or dishonor (n.) The mayor fell from respect and acclaim to ignominy in a week when a reporter discovered her cocaine habit .

6 Motley (mot’ lĒ) Made up of dissimilar parts; being of many colors (adj.) My calico cat is a motley specimen; her tail is too long, her ears are too small and her fur has every possible color and pattern known in the feline world.

7 CATHARSIS An out flowing of emotion (verb) When Sandy found out she failed the quiz, she had a catharsis.
