Choose the Proper Specialty Tab
80 Points Minimum per specialty! (up to 90 may be included - maximum) Each specialty that you are recertifying requires 80 PGP points. Note the tabs across the top of the application Home, Pre-approval, Wound, Ostomy, Continence and Profile

Nine Categories in Dropdowns
Refer to PGP Handbook for Categories. Pick the category and click “Add New Activity.” Categories Continuing Education Programs/ Projects Research Teaching Professional Organizations Publications Academic Education Self Assessment Preapproval The New Online PGP application no longer refers to activities by category letters – A, E, I, etc. – reducing confusion when creating your portfolio.

Be sure you click the Checkbox for “Professional Practice” or “Specialty” to flag the activity as pertaining to the clinical specialty or if it is considered WOC professional practices. Refer to page 7

PGP Point Summary Point Summary
A log of all the activities you have submitted within each specialty. The Online PGP Portfolio automatically assigns point values and updates your point summary Watch for the yellow box for messages about potential errors There is a separate point summary for EACH tab – Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Call attention to the yellow box We need to clarify that “specialty points” are those that are not “professional practice” points 40 min Specialty points required 80 total points needed before sending portfolio

Precepting Indicate total number of hours per certification period (in each specialty) for clinical education or precepting. WOCNCB tracking forms (found on Web site), or letter verifying hours from WOCN® Accredited Education Program may be requested.

You must be the author or co-author of the poster. Include title and name of conference at which the poster was presented.

Self Assessment The Self Assessment Category was developed to assess the impact that the Professional Growth Program has on you as a wound, ostomy or continence nurse. Me Refer to page 16 * Critical thinking There is no wrong answer for a self assessment, but this the correct format for your answer. A self assessment is a quick 5 PGP points one per specialty.

Preapproval Preapproval Tips For projects and activities not defined
For non-WOCN sessions as professional practice Submit online any time within certification period But – at least 30 days prior to PGP deadline! Examples Wound care scripts in prep for filming a video (consultation and editing) Pre-approved for 10 PGP points. Created product books for ostomy education of nurses and surgeons, and made them available as reference tool in hospital supplies. Used books to educate nurses and surgeons. Pre-approved for 15 PGP points. Consultant for development of wound care video series used at nursing schools throughout the United States Pre-approved for 5 PGP points.

Your Portfolio Checklist
Be sure your application includes: Completed Profile Point Logs between 80 and 90 points per specialty RN license number Payment

Enter Payment Information
Click “Submit” button Enter payment with Castle Worldwide for each specialty by PGP or exam

Complete Payment From the PGP payment screen, you will be re-directed to Castle Worldwide which allows you to add exams if needed and process payment for PGP and/or exams Follow the sign-in instructions for completing PGP payment 3rd and 4th bullet items

After Submission After you submit the portfolio the status will read “unapproved” meaning it has not yet been reviewed or approved for recertification Portfolios are reviewed by the PGP Committee You will receive an auto- after the review about Approval or Request for Revision, usually within two weeks

After Submission If a Revision is requested, you may replace or revise the items not approved A fee of $25 per specialty is required for a resubmission You may submit the initial portfolio plus 2 resubmissions prior to having a portfolio fail If it is failed, you may recertify via exam and must pay examination fees
