Gateway page for STUDENTS
Students, teachers, judges and volunteers all start their registration with a click at Registration on the upper nav bar. Remember: You reach this page from TerraFairs.org, where one can click to a fair’s homepage by choosing its city. WELCOME!
2
Registration On your fair’s page at TerraFairs.org, click on the “student” line that opens when you click “Registration” on the upper nav bar. This is the first page of the Student’s registration process. For this page, you will need name, phone, gender, grade, home address, your , and your school. You may add an for parents, which helps communicate with them. PARTNERS REGISTER AT THE SAME TIME so your files are linked! If your school is not on the list that opens at “Select the Fair or School You’re From,” click “OTHER” and add yours in the field that pops up. Next you’ll make your Username and Password (each must be at least six characters). RECORD YOUR USER NAME AND PASSWORD SO YOU CAN GET BACK IN TO COMPLETE REGISTRATION AND TO SUBMIT YOUR SAFETY AND PERMISSIONS PAPERWORK! If you can, please allow the text msgs, so the fair can notify you quickly of changes and other important info. Finally, select your Division (Topic Presentation or Research / Engineering Design in Junior [5th - 8th] or Senior [9th-12th]) and Category. You can find details about categories at the Intel ISEF site.

Project Information Now you input the title of your project. PLEASE be accurate in both spelling and capitalization, because that is the way your project will be listed in the Awards Ceremony program and all of the judges’ and fair’s lists. You verify your category again here. Your adult sponsor’s name finishes this page. This may have been your classroom teacher, parent, mentor, youth leader ... whoever is the adult monitoring your registration process. If you do NOT find your adult on this list, contact him/her to make sure that s/he has registered at your TerraFair’s homepage.

Research Plan Your Research Plan is the tool you are using to plan and complete your work. If you are still in the midst of preparing all this, enter what you can and save it. IF YOU ARE DOING A TOPIC PRESENTATION, the only relevant fields might be Rationale (what you want to learn about and why) and Bibliography (what you’re using to gather your information). When you put your info into those fields and save, the system will accept your Plan. Rationale Research Question … Procedures Risk and Safety Data Analysis Bibliography

File and Forms – Junior RED and Topic Presentation
Topic Presentations and Junior Level Research and Engineering Design students will see this page. Click on “Download Required Files” to get PDFs you can fill out or print off. COMPUTER OPTION (THIS IS THE ONE THAT GIVES THE REVIEWERS THE BEST QUALITY FILES): Fill out the forms on your computer. Your adults sign them digitally. Then upload them directly from your computer to STEM Wizard for Scientific Review Committee review and approval. Just click on “Upload your files” and the page will open with a box for each form required. Click on the blue “Upload” button for the box to select your file from the drive. It will take a while to upload – don’t worry! APP OPTION: Print the forms, fill them out and have your adults sign the paper copies. Then use the STEM Wizard app to take a picture of each side of each sheet, and upload them directly to your own student account! (It’s a free cellphone app for Android or Apple to get free from the Play Store.) Just click on the picture of a camera in the upper right corner of this STEM Wizard page. Your fair’s will see your app-loaded forms and process the approval! PLEASE check the image before you send it. Fuzzy, inverted and “messy” photos cannot be reviewed and your application will be incomplete. Some fairs may have additional permission forms for students. Just complete whatever forms you find on this page and get them uploaded.

File and Forms – Remind me again why we do these?
So ... what is the purpose of the various forms required? Your fair wants to know that at least one adult has been monitoring your work, and making sure you (and any subjects or neighbors) are safe. Think, “Every student, subject and nearby living creature should be safe from physical or mental harm.” It makes sense, yes? Your fair has to have proof that you have permission to participate in the fair. Since your regional fair with this STEM Wizard portal covers multiple counties with many hundreds of eligible students, both the adults and the students need to provide contact information as well.

File and Forms – Senior RED, first page
With nine questions (the first is shown above), the site will walk you through the wizard that ID’s the forms you need. Keep on using “continue” while it builds your draft list of required forms. Don’t forget to use the Intel ISEF Wizard to identify your forms and download the fillable PDFs from them -
8
File and Forms – Senior RED, second page
Please double check with your teacher or mentor that the right forms were selected. You can add any to your “package” of forms manually. Save any changes you’ve made to the list of forms. Your set will be ready to download (button at the top of the page). Best option: You can fill them out and sign them online. If your adults will not sign online, print the forms, complete the paper copies, get the signatures, and use the Apple or Android app to photograph them and upload them into your registration! (That’s the button in the right side of your screen.)

Registration fee The Registration Payment screen shows up for everyone, but not every fair requires payment. So … If your fair has a Registration fee, you can pay it online via PayPal (credit cards can be processed via PayPal) OR send a check OR bring cash to the fair on Fair Day itself OR send a Purchase Order to the address given so an invoice can be cut and your school or organization can issue payment. If your system won’t allow you to pay by credit card, no worry. Again, just click “Cash” and pay on Fair Day. If your fair does NOT have a Registration fee, just check off cash and click on submit. That will show this milestone as “complete.”
10
Abstract You can upload your abstract as a file (click on “File Upload” to open the right hand view above), OR you can put your abstract directly into the text area (click “Textarea” to open the left hand view). Your abstract is VERY important to the Scientific Review Committee members. Get it uploaded as soon as you can. Until we lock registration, you can modify the abstract as needed to overview your work accurately. Your abstract may be reviewed in advance by the judges registered for your fair, and help the Fair Committee recruit the right judges to talk with you..

Dashboard Your Terra Fair
Remember that you can save all your information in your registration and sign out. When you come back in, the first thing you’ll see is this Dashboard page. It will tell you where you are in the registration process, what steps are not completed, what steps are waiting for approval, and what you’ve finished. Always check for your “Messages” on the left nav bar. That’s where you will get info and updates from the Registrar, and where comments from the SRC about your safety paperwork will let you know what must be done ASAP on your paperwork. See you on Fair Day! Your Fair Director and Fair Committee members
