Matthew 26:26-29 NKJV [26] And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is My body." [27] Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. [28] For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. [29] But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father's kingdom."

1 Corinthians 16:1-2 NKJV [1] Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also: [2] On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come.

Pride: "the character of one who, with a swollen estimate of his own powers or merits, looks down on others and even treats them with insolence (rude, disrespectful) and contempt" (Thayer).

Proverbs 16:16-20 16 How much better to get wisdom than gold
Proverbs 16:16-20 16 How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver. 17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil; He who keeps his way preserves his soul. 18 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall. 19 Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, Than to divide the spoil with the proud. 20 He who heeds the word wisely will find good, And whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he.
14
Jesus was not a proud person, Jesus was very humble and we all can see this when we read
Phil 2:5-8. 5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. He also recommends the same for his followers when he says that Christians must also be like him. Matthew 18:1-4. At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” 2 Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, 3 and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Pride is worldly, because it put trust in the flesh.
1 John 2:16. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. Pride also is An exaggerated regard for self – when one thinks too highly of himself/herself (Rom. 12:3). 3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.
16
PRIDE IS DEFILING, Mk. 7:22 22 thefts, covetousness wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. Look around you and see the how the world is turning now days. Everyone is proud; every one is putting others down and treating them as inferiors, for the simple facts that pride is telling some, YOU ARE SUPERIOR.
17
PRIDE IS DEFILING, Mk. 7:22 Pride is the Way of the World,
1 Jno. 2: Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
18
PRIDE IS DEFILING, Mk. 7:22 Pride offers a form of godliness for the world to see, but pride denies the power of godliness due to its self-centred world view! 2 Tim. 3:1-5. But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
19
PRIDE IS DEFILING, Mk. 7:22 Pride Develops in a Heart that has Turned to Evil, Mk. 7:21. Grows in an evil heart of unbelief, Heb. 3:12. 12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; When the heart is given over to sin, pride grows up as a defensive barrier from the rebukes and pleadings of truth to repent! It corrupts the entire person, Mk. 7:23. 23 All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”
20
Pride Produces: PRIDE IS DEFILING, Mk. 7:22 Strife and shame,
Prov. 13:10. 10 By pride comes nothing but strife, But with the well-advised is wisdom Rude and cruel speech, Prov. 14:3. In the mouth of a fool is a rod of pride, But the lips of the wise will preserve them.
21
PRIDE IS DECEPTIVE, Gal. 6:3
3 For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. Pride is Haughty in its View and Treatment of Others, Prov. 6:17. 17 A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, It uses a false standard to judge self and others, Prov. 30: There is a generation that curses its father, And does not bless its mother. 12 There is a generation that is pure in its own eyes, Yet is not washed from its filthiness. 13 There is a generation oh, how lofty are their eyes! And their eyelids are lifted up.
22
PRIDE IS DECEPTIVE, Gal. 6:3
3 For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. Condescending, arrogant treatment of others (words or deeds) is absolutely a part of pride. Romans 1:30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
23
PRIDE IS DECEPTIVE, Gal. 6:3
3 For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. Pride Deceives Us by Leading us to Trust in Personal Knowledge Instead of Loving God and being Known by God, 1 Cor. 8:1-3. Now concerning things offered to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies. 2 And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know. 3 But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him.
24
PRIDE IS DESTRUCTIVE, Prov. 16:18
Proverbs 16:18 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 18:12 Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty, And before honor is humility. Pride Destroys a Proper View of Self, Jer. 10:23. 23 O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.
25
PRIDE IS DESTRUCTIVE, Prov. 16:18
Pride convinces us we are (always) right, Prov. 16:20. 20 He who heeds the word wisely will find good, And whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he. In fact, pride takes us downward, Prov. 29:23. A man’s pride will bring him low, But the humble in spirit will retain honor. Pride Destroys a Proper View of Others, Lk. 18:9, 11, 14. 9 Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
26
PRIDE IS DESTRUCTIVE, Prov. 16:18
As pride overestimates its own value it devalues others, which in turn is played out in our treatment of others, Matt. 7:12. 12 Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. Pride does not (cannot) serve others! Matt. 20:28; Phil. 2:5-8
27
PRIDE IS DESTRUCTIVE, Prov. 16:18
Pride Destroys Respect for Christ aand His Word, 1 Tim. 6:3-5. 3 If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness, 4 he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, 5 useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself.
28
PRIDE IS DESTRUCTIVE, Prov. 16:18
Pride disregards truth and accepts the lies that generate self- importance, 1 Tim. 6:3 (proud: "superior, lifted up", lifted up with haughtiness). Oh, yes, you have no idea of who I am, I’m very important, I have money, I have positions, I have possessions, I have degrees, I have triple citizenship’s of so and so country’s, people always open doors for me.. Etc…
29
PRIDE IS DESTRUCTIVE, Prov. 16:18
The proud trust the imaginations (dispositions) of their hearts, but God scatters them (lays waste), Lk. 1:51 (Prov. 15:25). Luke 1:51 He has shown strength with His arm; He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. Proverbs 15:25 The LORD will destroy the house of the proud, But He will establish the boundary of the widow.
30
PRIDE IS DESTRUCTIVE, Prov. 16:18
God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble, 1 Pet. 5:5-7 (Jas. 4:6). Pride refuses to submit to men and God where humble submissiveness is required and beneficial, 1 Pet. 5:5. Only by humbling ourselves to God will He lift us up, 1 Pet. 5:6 (Lk. 18:14). Even refusing to cast our care (anxiety) on the Lord is evidence of pride in our hearts! 1 Pet. 5:7
31
PRIDE IS DESTRUCTIVE, Prov. 16:18
You will obtain grace from God when you humble yourself to Him and obey His gospel of salvation. Isa. 57:15 Isaiah 57:15 For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: "I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
