1. “Two Frogs and the Milk Vat” by Claude Brown – Vocabulary Activity
Using the SAS Flash Card App, on the classroom iPad(s), you will identify vocabulary terms utilized while reading “Two Frogs and the Milk Vat.”
Each set of partners and/or teams will be given 7 terms that will be utilized while reading “Two Frogs and the Milk Vat” on pages in your Holt textbook. Find a synonym for each of the terms in a thesaurus. You will use the SAS Vocabulary/Term Sheet provided to record a synonym for each term.
On an iPod or iPad, open the app SAS Flashcards.
Choose “My Decks.”
Press the plus sign (+) at the top of the screen to create a new deck.
The next step will allow you to give all of the important characteristics of your deck:
Subject: English
Card Type: Text, Image, Sound
Question Type: The teacher will tell you which to choose (differentiation).
Card Deck Title: “Two Frogs and the Milk Vat”
Grade Level:
Author Name: Type first INITIAL and LAST NAME of each group member.
Description: User created deck
Make deck public: No
Press “Start Building.”
Press the plus sign (+) at the top of the screen to create your first card.
In the box titled “Directive”, type your SYNONYM.
Type your answer (VOCABULARY TERM) in the space provided. You do not need to complete the section titled “Clarification.”
* After all groups have created their flashcards, each of the devices will be rotated so that all groups may practice each deck created.
