What is an ally, advocate, or accomplice?
Ally - someone who supports and helps someone else a mentor, a friend, a supporter LGBTQ ally / undocu-ally Advocate - someone who publicly supports something someone who speaks out, takes a stand, shares information, promotes a cause or a marginalized group Accomplice - someone who helps someone else to commit a crime or do something morally wrong someone who takes action to help those in need (going beyond giving information) What is an ally, advocate, or accomplice?

Listen to People’s Stories
Create a welcoming space for people to share their stories. Listen carefully without judgement. Treat others as human beings, not political pawns. Listen to People’s Stories

Don’t ask those whom you are supporting to teach you everything.
Research the issues, laws, statistics, and current events. Read reliable news sources: The Atlantic, NPR, LA Times, NY Times, Washington Post Educate Yourself

Show up Stand up Speak up
Visibly show your support – but displaying a sign or poster is just a start. Be reliable; follow through on your promises. Call out bad behavior when you see it. Speak your truth. Speak truth to power. Show up Stand up Speak up

Take Action Vote. Encourage others to vote. Call Congress.
Attend town halls. Support candidates with your money and time. Run for office. Take Action
