2. purpose:
To explain storage and moving allowances available as you transition out of the US Navy and into civilian life
To provide a brief overview of what entitlements you may qualify for

3. I’m not moving back to my home of record, will the navy still pay me to move my stuff?
Eligible retirees and certain involuntary separating Sailors (e.g HYT, Medical, at least eight years of continuous service) are authorized Household Goods (HHG) shipped or stored to their Home of Record/Home of Selection within 1yrs of separating from active duty
All other separating members are authorized Household Goods (HHG) shipped or stored up to 6 months of separating from active duty, and items may be shipped to the location in which they collected separation travel pay
Sailors being separated with less than 8 yrs or those discharged under adverse condition are eligible to request their HHG be moved to their home of record

4. Do I get paid to move my family back home once I am out?
A member traveling alone by privately owned conveyance (POC) is entitled to a monetary allowance in lieu of transportation, plus a flat rate per diem based on the standard CONUS per diem rate
There are additional allowances made for members who are accompanied by dependents and travel in a second car.
Separated member must complete travel within 180 days of separation and retirees must complete travel within one year after retirement.

Will a Sailor with less than 8yrs of active service being discharged under adverse conditions be able to ship their HHG to Jamaica if they joined the Navy in Bronx, NY? NO, they will only be allowed/paid to ship their goods to their HOR
