3 Authoritarian Government
A type of Government where one person holds all the power

4 Autocracy A type of Government where it is ran by one person
They have all the power Example: Dictatorship

5 Communism society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs

6 Enlightenment Era A new movement in Europe
At this time there were new ideas about Science and religions. This lead to new ideas about how people should be treated and Governed

7 MOnarchy A type of government where Royalty(Kings and Queens) are in charge of the Government

8 Constitutional Monarchy
A government in which the power of the monarch(King or Queen) is listed by a constitution

9 Democratic Government
A Government that is ruled by the people All citizens make choices and have influence

10 Dicatatorship A type of government where there is one leader
Like an autocracy or authoritarian Government But this individual acts very selfishly, he or she is not concerned with the people

11 Direct Democracy A system in which the people govern themselves and vote DIRECTLY on all issues

12 Locke John locke was a thinker from the Enlightenment Era.
He came up with two great ideas Social Contract-people agree to give up some freedoms and be ruled by a government. In return they get services and protections Natural Law and Natural Rights- People form governments to protect their Natural Rights. Natural Law states that All people have natural rights Natrual Rights are : Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness(Property)

13 Majority Rule A rule of Democracy
What the majority of people want, all will get Ex. Voting

14 Baron De Montesquieu Thinker from the Enlightenment Era
He came up with idea of separation of powers We now have three branches of government, because of his idea

15 Natural Law Natural law states that we all have natural rights

16 Natural Rights The rights to Life Liberty And the pursuit of happiness

17 oligarchy A type of government where A small group that holds all the power

18 Separation of powers Dividing the power to create law, enforce law and interpret the meaning of law into 3 separate Branches

19 Social Contract The idea that people will give up some freedom to the government, in exchange for services and protections.

20 Socialism A type of government where the people Don’t control the market or Economy, The government does. Ex. A car company like Ford, would not be owned by the ford family and investors. It would belong to the Governemnt.
