_____________________________________________________

7 2 Methods to Starting a weld
Tapping – Keep tapping the electrode on the metal until the arc is started Striking – Strike the electrode against the metal like striking a match

8 Keeping the Arc Welding is done by melting metal together.
Once you’ve struck your arc, keeping moving the metal pool along until you are at the end of the metal

9 After Welding Once you are done welding, place the metal in water to cool it down Only pick it up with Pliers!!!!! Using your chipping hammer or wire brush, brush away all of the slag Slag is the black stuff that will be on top of your weld Slag makes your weld look bad and could make the metal weaker if you weld on it

10 After Welding Slag – black material covering the welding
This can be cleaned off by: Chipping Hammer Wire Brush

11 Make Adjustments If you cant get the arc to start, turn up the metal
If your metal is burning holes through it, its too hot and you need to turn it down!! Look to see if your going too fast or too slow
